IRISH WOLFHOUND HEALTH TESTING

HEART TESTING – The Irish Wolfhound Foundation (IWF) is sponsoring heart testing on Wednesday and Thursday,

May 18 and 19. Tests offered include EKG’s, echocardiograms and blood pressure screening. There will be a limit of 25 hounds per day, and pre-registration is required. To schedule an appointment, please contact Frances Abrams at (937) 767-8677 or frances.abrams@att.net by May 7. All paperwork and payments must be received by Frances before your appointment will be confirmed. Owners will pay only $75.00 per hound, with the balance of the cost being paid by the IWF. All data collected will be used by the Foundation to supply ongoing heart studies. 

BROAD INSTITUTE – Researchers from Broad Institute will be on the show grounds collecting blood samples for their Genome Project with a focus on Osteosarcoma. Please take advantage of this opportunity to have your dogs’ blood collected. There is no charge for sample collection. Legs are not shorn, and it takes only a few minutes. Researchers are looking for samples from healthy dogs, as well as affected.
