The Finger Lakes Region, is located in western New York, between the cities of Rochester and Syracuse.

Eleven lakes enhance the area. The five largest lakes resemble the fingers of an outstretched hand, which the Native Americans believed the lakes were formed, when the Great Spirit placed his hand on the land to bless it. Modern science credits the formation from the centuries -old glacial activity.

The five largest bodies of water that create the Finger Lakes Region are Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga and Owasco. Seneca Lake is the largest measuring 36 miles in length, with a dept of 632 feet.

This area is a popular vacation destination for lake activities including fishing, swimming, and boating. Other highlights are winter sports, golf, hiking, biking, museums, galleries, and shopping.
